Lodestellar may assign its rights and obligations without restriction. 16.4\. **Waiver.** Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision. 16.5\. **Force majeure.** Lodestellar is not liable for delays or failures in performance caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, power outages, internet disruptions, or third-party service failures. ## 17\. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. ## 1\. Data Controller Lodestellar OÜ is the data controller for all personal data processed through the Service. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer as it is not required given the nature and scale of our processing. For privacy inquiries, contact us at [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). ## 2\. Personal Data We Collect **Account data** — when you register for an Account, we collect your name, email address, and organization name. We also look up basic public information about the company behind your email address, such as its name, its field of business and its size. This tells us the kind of organization we are serving. **Authentication data** — session tokens and, if you use third-party login (such as Google or Microsoft), your OAuth identifiers. We do not store your third-party account passwords. **Uploaded documents** — EPDs, LCA background reports, and supporting documents you submit to the Service. These may incidentally contain personal data such as author names or contact details. **Quality review results** — the findings, verdicts, and reports generated by the Service for your uploaded documents. **What you write in the Service** — the notes, comments and messages you write while working on a review, and the details you record about it, such as the name of the EPD developer. We keep these with the review they belong to. **Review remarks you offer as automatic checks** — the wording of a remark you wrote yourself about one compliance point in a review, where you have explicitly offered it for this purpose, together with the clause reference that goes with it. **Email preferences** — your choices about which non-essential email you receive from us: whether you receive product updates, and whether you have asked us to stop personal help notes. **Report requests** — if you ask for a report or other resource on our website and tick the box consenting to hear from us, we collect the email address you give us, the record of that consent, and the time of the request. Ticking the box is optional and the resource opens either way; if you leave it unticked we do not keep your address at all. You do not need an Account for this. **Business contact data** — if you are in business contact with Lodestellar, because you wrote to us, we wrote to you, we met, or you use the Service, we keep your name, work email address and company, and a short record of our contacts with you: the date, the channel, the subject and a one-line summary. If you have an Account, the record also shows your organization, your email preferences, and how many reviews you have run and when. This record does not hold the content of the messages, and nothing from your documents. **We do not collect or store payment card information.** All payment processing is handled by our payment provider (see Section 5). ## 3\. How We Use Your Data We process your personal data for the following purposes and legal bases: **To provide the Service** (legal basis: contract performance, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) - Creating and managing your Account - Processing uploaded documents using AI to generate quality reviews - Delivering quality review results - Keeping the notes, comments and messages you write about a review, so that you and your colleagues can carry that review forward **To process payments** (legal basis: contract performance and legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR) - Sharing necessary account information with our payment provider for billing and invoicing **To maintain security and prevent abuse** (legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) - Session management and authentication - Detecting and preventing misuse of the Service **To understand who our customers are** (legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) - Looking up basic public information about the company behind the email address you register with. Our interest is in knowing the kind of organization we serve, so that we can support it properly. **To help you use the Service** (legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) - Sending you an occasional one-to-one message from a Lodestellar founder about your own use of the Service, for example when a review failed or got stuck, after your first quality report, or when your Account has not run a review yet. Such a message offers help or asks how it is going, and at most offers you a free trial or free credits. It does not advertise new features or other products. - Preparing those messages from your Account data and your activity in the Service, with the help of an AI service provider (see Sections 4 and 5) - Our interest is in making sure that the people who sign up can actually use the Service, and in hearing where it falls short for them. - You can object at any time, and we will stop: reply to any such message, or write to [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). Every such message says how. **To keep track of our business contacts** (legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) - Keeping one record of who at Lodestellar has been in touch with you and about what, using the business contact data described in Section 2 - Our interest is in running our sales and customer relations in an orderly way: writing to you consistently, not twice about the same thing, and not at all once you have asked us not to. - You can object at any time by writing to [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). We then stop contacting you and keep only the note that you asked us not to. **To send you research and product updates** (legal basis: consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) - Writing to you occasionally about our EPD quality research, where you asked for a report or other resource on our website and ticked the optional consent box on that form - Sending you news about Lodestellar's features and services, where you turned this on when you created your Account or later under Settings → Email preferences - There are two consents behind this: one you give on the website form, and one you give when you create your Account. Both are off unless you turn them on, and we do not prepare or send these messages for anyone who has not given the matching consent. - You can withdraw your consent at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any such email or by writing to [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). Withdrawing does not affect processing we carried out lawfully before you withdrew. **To improve the shared automated checks** (legal basis: consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) - To improve the shared automated checks, using only a remark you wrote yourself about one compliance point in a review, and have explicitly approved for this purpose in the app. - We use the wording of the remark and the clause it cites, and nothing else from your review. To draft a general version of the check, we give that wording and clause reference to an AI service provider (see Section 5); a person at Lodestellar then decides whether to use it, edit it or drop it. The check that results does not identify you, your Organization or your documents. - You can withdraw a remark at any time before we have made that decision, and we then delete its wording. Withdrawing does not affect processing we carried out lawfully before you withdrew. **To comply with legal obligations** (legal basis: legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) - Retaining records where required by Estonian law ## 4\. Automated Processing The Service uses artificial intelligence to analyze documents and generate quality review results. That processing is performed on documents, not on individuals. We also use artificial intelligence for two smaller jobs. One is to look up the company behind the email address you register with. The other, where you have offered a remark as an automatic check, is to draft a general version of that check. We also look at your own account activity for a second purpose: to judge whether it is a useful moment to send you a personal help note (see Section 3), and to draft it. For that we use your Account data and a short summary of what you are working on, such as the name of a review and what it raised. Every draft is shown to a person at Lodestellar, who can edit or stop it, before it is sent to you. If you have asked us to stop personal help notes, we do not do this for you. The Service does not make automated decisions about individuals that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Quality review results are informational guidance only. ## 5\. Data Sharing We share your personal data only with the categories of service providers necessary to operate the Service: **Payment provider** — processes all payments, invoicing, and tax compliance as our merchant of record. Handles your billing information directly. We share your email, name, and organization name for invoicing purposes. The payment provider acts as an independent data controller for payment data. See their privacy policy for details on how they handle your payment information. **Authentication provider** — manages user registration, login, and session management on our behalf. Processes your email address and authentication events. **AI service providers** — process the content you put into the Service to produce quality review results. That is your uploaded documents, together with the details you record about a review and the text you write while working on one. They also process the domain of the email address you register with, so that we can recognize the company behind it. Unless you have asked us to stop personal help notes, they process the Account and activity data described in Section 4, to draft those notes. Where you have offered a remark as an automatic check, they process its wording and the clause it cites, to draft the check. These providers are contractually bound not to use your data for model training or any purpose other than providing their services to us. **Email delivery provider** — delivers the email the Service sends you, including account and quality review notifications, personal help notes and, where you have consented, product updates. Processes your name, email address, and the content of the message. **Contact management provider** — stores the business contact data described in Section 2 on our behalf. **Cloud hosting provider** — hosts the Service infrastructure where your data is stored and processed. A list of specific sub-processors is available on request by contacting [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes. The providers above act only on our instructions. ## 6\. International Data Transfers Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred to such a provider, the transfer relies on the safeguards that provider offers in its standard terms under GDPR Chapter V. ## 7\. Data Retention **Uploaded documents, quality review results, and what you write in the Service** are deleted automatically, usually about a year after the review was run. They are also deleted upon Account closure. You may ask us at any time to delete them sooner, by writing to [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). **Account data** is retained for the duration of your Account. Upon Account closure, account data is deleted within a reasonable period. **Email preferences and prepared messages** — your choices about receiving email, including a later objection or withdrawal, are retained for the duration of your Account so that we continue to honour it. A message prepared for you is deleted once it is clear it will not be sent, at the latest 12 months after we prepared it, and in any case on Account closure. **Remarks you offer as automatic checks** — the wording of a remark you have approved for this purpose, and the clause it cites, are kept while the suggestion is waiting for our decision. They are deleted once we have decided, whether we use the remark or not, if you withdraw it before then, and on Account closure. **Copies of what we send to an AI service provider** — where we send data to an AI service provider to prepare something for you, such as a message or a draft check, we keep a short-lived copy of what we sent, so that we can check afterwards what left our systems. It is deleted once we no longer need it for that, and within 90 days at the latest. **Report requests** — an email address you give us on our website, with its consent record, is kept until you ask us to remove it, and is then deleted. **Business contact data** is deleted once we have had no contact with you for 24 months, unless you have an Account. If you asked us not to contact you, we keep your email address and that request so that we continue to honour it. **Some records may be retained beyond these periods where required by applicable law**, such as financial record-keeping obligations. ## 8\. Cookies The Service currently uses only strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management. These cookies are required for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. We do not currently use any tracking, analytics, or marketing cookies. If we introduce non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain your consent as required by applicable law. ## 9\. Data Security We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption of data in transit, access controls, and secure authentication mechanisms. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. ## 10\. Your Rights Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data: - **Access** — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you - **Rectification** — request correction of inaccurate personal data - **Erasure** — request deletion of your personal data - **Restriction** — request that we restrict processing of your personal data - **Data portability** — request your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format - **Objection** — object to processing based on legitimate interest - **Withdraw consent** — where we process your data on the basis of your consent, withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before the withdrawal - **Object to direct marketing** — tell us at any time to stop using your personal data to send you marketing, including the messages described in Section 3. We will stop, and you do not have to give us a reason To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). We will respond within 30 days. If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon): - Website: www.aki.ee - Email: [info@aki.ee](mailto:info@aki.ee) - Address: Tatari 39, 10134 Tallinn, Estonia ## 11\. Children's Data The Service is not directed at children under the age of 16\. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com) and we will delete it. ## 12\. Data Breach Notification In the event of a personal data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours as required by GDPR. If the breach poses a high risk to you, we will also notify you without undue delay. ## 13\. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at lodestellar.com/privacy-policy with a revised effective date. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice by email. ## 14\. Prices exclude tax. - **Check before verification**, for manufacturers and EPD consultants: 140€ / $160 / £120 per project (one background report and its EPDs), early access price until 31 December 2026. Set up on request. https://www.lodestellar.com/manufacturers/ - **Verifier Workspace**, for EPD verifiers: 175€ / $200 / £150 per verification project, early access price until 31 December 2026. https://www.lodestellar.com/verifiers/ - **EPD quality scan**, for anyone who works with EPDs: 7€ / $8 / £6 per EPD, your first scan free. https://www.lodestellar.com/epd-quality-scan/ Custom checklists or an API for your EPD tool: [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). ### For EPD manufacturers: check before verification URL: https://www.lodestellar.com/manufacturers/ Last updated: 2026-10-02 Every round of verifier comments costs you days of work and weeks of waiting. Lodestellar checks your EPD and its background report before the verifier sees them, so you fix the problems first and the EPD is published sooner. In six years of our own verification work, 6 of 10 verification comments were about the background report, not the EPD. So we check both. ## Check your own EPD before it goes out 1. **Upload the background report and the EPDs.** Before they go to your verifier. Drafts are fine. 2. **Get the list of what to fix.** Each finding says what is wrong, where, which rule it comes from, and how to fix it. 3. **Fix it and check again.** Check, fix and check again as often as you need until your EPD is verified. ## What is checked - The standard: EN 15804+A2 or ISO 21930, and ISO 14025 - Your programme operator's own rules - The product PCR or c-PCR your EPD follows - The numbers in the EPD against the background report - Missing statements, wrong module labels, old datasets and other things verifiers comment on Lodestellar checks documents. It does not write or change your EPD, and it does not replace your verifier. **Your data stays yours.** A background report holds confidential business data. Everything you upload is encrypted, stored in the EU, never used to train AI models, and deleted whenever you ask. Details: https://www.lodestellar.com/data-security-confidentiality/ ## Price Check before verification: 140€ / $160 / £120 per project, + applicable tax. Early access price until 31 December 2026. - A project is one background report and its EPDs - Check, fix and check again until your EPD is verified - No extra charge per EPD in the project Ask us to set it up: write to [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com?subject=EPD%20check%20before%20verification) and tell us how many EPDs you are planning. We set it up for your company and invoice you. Want to see it first? Run one published or draft EPD through the [EPD quality scan](https://www.lodestellar.com/epd-quality-scan/). Your first scan is free. Verifying EPDs for others? See the [Verifier Workspace](https://www.lodestellar.com/verifiers/). ### For EPD verifiers: the Verifier Workspace URL: https://www.lodestellar.com/verifiers/ Last updated: 2026-10-02 The Verifier Workspace runs the systematic checks across the EPD, its background report and the PCR. You spend your time on the calls that need a verifier, and send the developer a clear communication log. ## Built for verifying someone else's EPD - **One upload for the whole document set.** Drop in the background report, the EPDs, supporting documents and the c-PCR. Lodestellar sorts each file itself. - **Every layer checked.** The standards, the programme rules and the product PCR or c-PCR. The numbers in the EPD are compared with the background report. - **You decide each finding.** Raise it, close it, or close it and remember the decision for this project, this manufacturer or all your company's work. The AI proposes. You decide. - **A communication log ready to send.** Your raised comments become a log for the EPD developer, each one tied to the place in the document it is about. Send it by link or as a Word file. - **Follow-up rounds that show what changed.** The developer's answers are checked again: addressed, partly addressed or not addressed. New text is marked, so you read what changed, not the whole report again. - **A queue of your projects.** See which verifications wait on you and which wait on the developer. Lodestellar does not replace verifiers. Independent verification runs on expert judgement, and that stays with you. The workspace takes the mechanical checks, so one verifier can carry more projects. ## Price Verifier Workspace: 175€ / $200 / £150 per verification project, + applicable tax. Upload it and see where it falls short of the standards and the programme rules, line by line. Your first EPD scan is free. No payment card required. 1. **Upload an EPD.** Any EPD that follows EN 15804+A2 or ISO 21930, as a PDF or Word file. A draft or one already published. 2. **Lodestellar checks it.** Against ISO 14025, EN 15804+A2 or ISO 21930, and the programme operator's own rules. It finds the right checks itself. 3. **Read the findings.** Line by line: a verdict, the reasoning, the rule it comes from, and how to fix it. Download them as a spreadsheet. **What the scan does not cover.** The scan reads the EPD only. It does not see the background report or the LCA model behind it, and it does not run the product PCR or c-PCR checks. Those are part of a project: the [check before verification](https://www.lodestellar.com/manufacturers/) for manufacturers, and the [Verifier Workspace](https://www.lodestellar.com/verifiers/) for verifiers. ## Price A typical EPD costs €7–10k to develop. A scan costs 7€, less than 1% of that. EPD quality scan: 7€ / $8 / £6 per EPD (1 credit), + applicable tax, sold in packs of 5 credits (35€ / $40 / £30). Pay as you go, no subscription. - Checks against ISO 14025, EN 15804+A2 or ISO 21930, and the programme operator's rules - Each finding has a verdict, the reasoning and guidance - PDF and Word EPDs, drafts or published - 1 credit per EPD, credits valid for 12 months Each scan uses credits again. If you scan the same EPD after fixing it, that is a new scan. [Start your free scan](https://app.lodestellar.com/sign-up?ref=lodestellar.com) **Running an EPD tool, or making EPDs in bulk?** A mistake in one EPD affects one product. A mistake inside an EPD tool ends up in every EPD the tool makes. An independent check of the tool's output catches it once, before it is published a hundred times. Add Lodestellar to your tool through our API, with your own checklists: [talk to us](mailto:info@lodestellar.com?subject=Lodestellar%20API%20integration). **How is tax handled?** VAT or sales tax is calculated at checkout from your location, and every purchase comes with an invoice. EU companies can enter a VAT number for the reverse charge. **Refunds?** All purchases are final. We may consider a refund case by case. See our [Terms & Conditions](https://www.lodestellar.com/terms-and-conditions/). ### Data Security & Confidentiality URL: https://www.lodestellar.com/data-security-confidentiality/ Last updated: 2026-10-06T00:00:00.000Z **Effective date:** October 6, 2026 The documents you upload to Lodestellar, such as EPDs and LCA background reports, often hold confidential business data. This page sets out the rules that apply to every account. Customers whose IT, security or procurement teams need more can get it under an enterprise agreement, described below. ## Every account - **Stored in the EU.** Your documents, review results and account data are stored and backed up in the European Union. - **Encrypted.** Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. - **Never used to train AI models.** To review a document, we send its content to specialised providers for document conversion and AI analysis. They work under business terms that do not allow them to use your data to train their models, or for any purpose other than providing their service to us, and they keep it only for a limited time. Some of them process data in the United States. The current list of providers is available on request. - **Kept separate.** Each organization's data is kept separate from every other organization's. Your documents are never used in another customer's review. - **Seen only by the people who run the service.** Only the people who operate Lodestellar, and the tools they run to do so, can reach your data, and only to keep the service running and to help you when you ask. - **Deleted.** Reviews and their documents are deleted automatically, usually about a year after the review was run. Write to [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com) to have a document, a review or your whole account deleted sooner. When your account is closed, its data is deleted. - **Told if something goes wrong.** If a data breach puts your data at risk, we notify the affected customers within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, and tell you what happened and what we have done about it. How we handle personal data, including transfers outside the EU, retention periods, your GDPR rights and breach notification, is set out in our [Privacy Policy](/privacy-policy/). Our [Terms and Conditions](/terms-and-conditions/) are the contract for every account. ## Enterprise agreements Organizations with stricter requirements can get them met under an enterprise agreement: a written set of commitments, sent on request and agreed as part of the contract. Depending on what your policies require, it can include: - a data processing agreement under GDPR Article 28, with a named list of sub-processors and notice before it changes; - AI analysis run inside the EU, and no retention of your data by the AI provider, where the provider approves it for our account; - answers to your security questionnaire, and our security measures in writing; - deletion of your data at the end of the contract, confirmed in writing; - shorter breach notification and other terms your policies require. Enterprise pricing is agreed per customer. Contact us at [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). ## Questions For security questions, a security questionnaire, or the list of providers that process your documents, contact us at [info@lodestellar.com](mailto:info@lodestellar.com). ### Let's raise EPD quality & literacy across construction URL: https://www.lodestellar.com/#about (section of the one-page site) Last updated: 2026-07-15 Our goal is to make quality EPDs accessible to all manufacturers, big and small, and ensure EPD quality can be more easily recognised across the sector — not just among specialists. ### Contact Lodestellar is based in Tallinn, at the Lift99 startup hub (where you're welcome to visit), and you can reach us at info@lodestellar.com. ### A brief history Lodestellar emerged out of Digital Construction 2022, which gathered construction and software specialists in Tallinn to accelerate the adoption of game-changing digital tools across the global construction sector. A panel of industry experts awarded Lodestellar (then Lodestar) first place to support its further development. After that, we continued to refine the concept and develop the technology — while Anni kept working as an EPD developer and verifier for building product manufacturers across Europe and the US. After extensive industry validation, use as an internal tool at LCA Support, and then wider pilots, we discovered that a quality review at an early stage of development can significantly reduce a lot of costly hassle later between manufacturers, developers, verifiers, and programme operators. In 2026, the technology was ready — and we now invite you to [try Lodestellar for yourself](https://app.lodestellar.com/sign-up?ref=lodestellar.com). We're a lean team, combining domain and technical expertise, and supported by leading LCA and EPD professionals. ### Co-founders **Anni Oviir** (Co-founder · The EPD side) is an EPD verifier who has worked in the LCA field for more than a decade, including as a lecturer. She's the founder of LCA Support, which provides EPD development and verification to leading building product manufacturers across Europe, the US, and the UK. Anni is also the co-author of Estonia's national carbon footprinting method for buildings, the co-author of Green Tiger's construction roadmap 2040, and the Estonian partner of the Nordic LCA harmonization project. **Tanel Teinemaa** (Co-founder · The software side) is a highly experienced software developer with a passion for clean, simple, and well-tested code. His problem-solving roots go back nearly two decades, to his years as a leading national Olympiad competitor in maths and informatics. He has more than 15 years of professional experience in intuitive software architecture, across both back and front end, including for Microsoft and Playtech, and he co-founded Progmatic, a software company whose clients have included world-leading tech companies such as Pipedrive. ## Homepage sections ### FAQs URL: https://www.lodestellar.com/#faqs Last updated: 2026-10-02 #### What gets checked in uploaded EPDs? It depends on what you use. The EPD quality scan checks the EPD against **ISO 14025, EN 15804+A2 or ISO 21930**, and the programme operator's own rules, plus our own quality checks. It finds the right checks itself and reads what is visible in the EPD: transparency requirements, numbers that must add up, and basic sanity checks of reported values. A project, the check before verification for manufacturers or the Verifier Workspace for verifiers, also checks the background report and the product PCR or c-PCR, and compares the numbers in the EPD with the background report. Lodestellar is independent of any programme operator, ECO Platform, and any LCA or EPD software provider. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by them. #### What file formats can I upload? EPDs as PDF or Word files, drafts or already published. In a project you also upload the background report and supporting documents. Lodestellar reviews documents, not LCA models. Digital EPD files such as ILCD+EPD are not supported yet. #### At what stage of the EPD process can Lodestellar be used? Lodestellar is primarily designed to be used as a first-pass review during EPD creation, before formal verification or publication, although it can be used at any stage of the process, including on published EPDs. Identifying potential quality issues as early as possible helps teams produce higher-quality EPDs more efficiently and reduce the cost, time, and risk of resolving issues later. The aim is to help users better understand what high-quality EPDs look like and highlight aspects of the document that may benefit from improvement. Lodestellar supports greater transparency and accountability for quality across the sector by strengthening the work of EPD professionals, not replacing independent verification or programme operator decisions. #### How accurate is the quality review? The tool is smart, but not infallible. It runs on a large language model with well designed guardrails and carefully crafted checks. Use it as an additional quality layer, but still use your own judgement. We are developing internal benchmarking methods to track how the tool performs and improves over time. Our goal is to publish information about its accuracy and progress as the system evolves. Independent verification remains essential, and Lodestellar is designed to support better EPD quality and understanding, not to replace the judgement of experienced verifiers. #### Can't I just use my own AI? We've tried that a lot ourselves. Even with hundreds of individual prompts, it just doesn't match the quality of a dedicated EPD quality review. We've carefully designed Lodestellar to handle EPD quality reviews as efficiently, thoroughly, helpfully (and still as affordably) as possible, which is not as simple as training a large language model on the requirements, but ensuring every possible quality issue is codified in the right way. We are constantly developing that so we can keep raising quality beyond compliance. #### How does it compare with tools from LCA software providers? Lodestellar is independent of all EPD programme operators and also all LCA software. Their own tools work slightly differently. They are mostly focused on checking the integrity of LCA calculations, avoiding major issues, and validating the process. Lodestellar thoroughly checks and advises on EPD quality issues in ways that even go beyond compliance. #### How is my company data used? Your data is kept safe and secure, and we delete it whenever you ask. Review data is deleted automatically, usually about a year after the review. Your specific company data is not used to train AI models. We may use anonymised, aggregated usage data only to improve our services. If you explicitly agree in the app, we may also use the wording of a review remark you write to improve our shared automated checks. Both uses are outlined in our [Terms and Conditions](https://www.lodestellar.com/terms-and-conditions/). #### Why's it called Lodestellar? We started out as Lodestar, back at Digital Construction 2022\. That's a star used for navigation, typically the North Star. In modern usage, a lodestar can be anything that serves as an inspiration or guide. For example, verified environmental impacts now serve as the lodestar for growing a competitive, sustainable business. To launch our tool, we needed a truly unique name, however. So we kept lode, the old English word for path, way or course, and we added 'stellar', which still refers to a star but also emphasises quality. Lodestellar is now a trademark of Lodestellar OÜ. So use Lodestellar to guide your EPDs, and your wider business sustainability, along the path of quality. ### See Lodestellar in action URL: https://www.lodestellar.com/#take-a-look-inside Last updated: 2026-07-15 Watch the short walkthrough video, or [explore a sample EPD quality review](https://app.lodestellar.com/demo?ref=lodestellar.com). ### Catch EPD quality issues before verification. It gives a quick overview of potential issues, shows where the relevant requirement comes from, and helps highlight things that are easy to miss in complex models and documents. Used before formal verification, it helps developers fix basic issues earlier and reduces unnecessary back-and-forth." **Pirjo, Manufacturer:** "Lodestellar gives us real confidence before we send an EPD to the verifier. We've learned a lot about EPDs along the way — there's always more to learn, but Lodestellar makes the feedback so accessible. It's the kind of feedback verifiers simply don't have time to give you." **Roger, LCA software provider:** "Lodestellar adds an independent quality layer, so LCA software providers are not simply marking their own homework. As AI becomes more common in EPD workflows, that separation between creation and review will be essential for credibility." **Anonymous, EPD verifier:** "It's particularly useful for catching small but potentially confusing issues, like incorrect module subtitles — things you easily miss yourself because you already know what's meant when reading. The same goes for textual inconsistencies you overlook because you're carrying extra context from the background report." **Anonymous, EPD tool provider:** "Very clever software — very detailed. What impressed me is that it links the text to the numbers, rather than just checking text in isolation. The suggestions are pragmatic and useful." ### Resources (articles) URL: https://www.lodestellar.com/resources/ Last updated: 2026-07-16 Articles on EPD quality and literacy by co-founder Anni Oviir.
